Remote Management Systems
Remote Management Systems (RMS) was established in 1998. The company specializes in the development of telemetry systems designed for remote operation. Our RTUs have been successfully deployed in telecommunications, broadcasting, remote site infrastructure, emergency services and building management applications.
RTU Overview
The RTU allows you to monitor environmental conditions and external equipment by using:
contact closure inputs
analog DC voltage inputs
DC current inputs
temperature inputs
virtual inputs
The RTU also allows you to control equipment using:
latched relay outputs
contact closure outputs
virtual outputs
The RTU, and each of its ports, has a large number of configuration settings allowing you to customize the RTU to your specific needs.
When an event occurs that you need to know about, the RTU will notify you by sending messages using:
SNMP to up to five servers
SMTP (email) to one or two email destinations
SMS to one or two mobile phone destinations
The RTU can be directly connected to your network using an Ethernet link. If an Ethernet link is not available you can attach an external modem to the RTU's serial port. This will allow the RTU to dial into your network using the standard telephone (PSTN) or mobile phone (CDMA / GSM) networks. If using a mobile network, the RTU can also send SMS messages. The RTU can also be connected to a leased line using a suitable modem. A simple scripting language allows you to program the RTU so it can take actions in response to events, automatically and without manual input.
The RTU also has an on-board logging service. This keeps a record of the events detected by the RTU. This record can subsequently be retrieved and loaded into a spreadsheet, database, or other suitable software for further study and analysis.
All access to the RTU is via standard open protocols. Commands can be sent to the RTU using HTTP or SNMP. Notifications are sent using SNMP, SMTP (email) or SMS. All settings and values relating to the RTU can be retrieved using XML over the HTTP interface. The command formats, XML structure, and all other aspects of the RTU are documented on the Downloads page of this web site, allowing you to customize the RTU to your own interfaces and integrate it into your own applications.
